Neo-Cartonnage
Cartonnage is the technique used by the ancient egyptians to sculpt the ornate sarcophogi that enclosed mummified remains of the noble class. Materials used included wood, linen, glue and paint.
Neo-cartonnage is a technique developed by the artist utilizing a similar style and materials to create a one of a kind sculpture. These no-cartonnage figures are constructed with a combination of ancient and contemporary materials including wood, wire, paper, fiberglass, cloth and glue. They are then airbrushed in enamel and varnished with a polyurethane finish.
